What is Reflexology?
This is an ancient technique which involves applying pressure to the feet. Energy flowing around the body can become stagnant causing imbalances in the bodys natural equilibrium. The pressure applied to the feet can release these energy blockages. It is based on the fact that the body can heal itself.

What happens in a Reflexology session?
A reflexologist uses hands only to apply gentle pressure directly onto the feet. You do not have to take any clothes off other than your socks! It can be done seated in a chair or on a couch with cushions etc.
You should feel no pain but a pleasant feeling of tensions releasing. You may find you feel a bit sleepy during the session, this is common and is the start of the body healing itself. Tensions are eased allowing circulation and elimination to improve. Sessions usually last about 60 minutes. The first session includes a brief medical history.

About the Association of Reflexologists
The Association was founded in 1984. It arose from a need to establish standards and to provide a network of qualified practitioners to which the public can refer with confidence. It is a truly independent organisation, not affiliated to any particular training establishment.
The aim of the Association is to help maintain a high standard of practice, client care and to promote reflexology. Members are qualified therapists who abide by the Associations Codes of Practice and Ethics. They do not claim to cure, diagnose medical conditions or prescribe. They do not treat specific ailments but treat the person by stimulating and balancing the whole body.
For further information about Reflexology, research findings, qualified practitioners or speakers please contact the Association at the address below or e-mail to aor@reflexology.org
